Take a tour of the historic Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum, where African American students studied in the early part of the 20th century.

Attendees will meet at the museum before the tour starts. This will be an outdoor walking tour that should take approximately an hour & a half (depending on pace).

Mayor Allen, & Holt’s Chapel (1892).

Historic Door Installation Workshop

Have you ever wanted to install a historic door? Or, do you have one that does not close or latch properly?

In this hands-on workshop, we will build and install a new door frame including jams, casings, & stops in a 140+ year old house and hang a historic salvaged door. Installation of historic and modern door hardware will also be covered.

​

Meet us at The Salvage Shop by Preservation Burlington, wear warm clothes, bring a folding chair, bring your lunch (or we'll have lunch available for $15 purchase). If you're a member of Preservation Burlington, this workshop is complimentary with your membership. If you are NOT a member, tickets will be $10.

​

Thomas Day + Milton, NC Tour

Back by popular demand, we've partnered again with the Milton Renaissance Foundation to bring back the Thomas Day + Milton, NC Tour!

​

Thomas Day was a free man of color and a highly successful businessman in Caswell County, North Carolina in the 1800s. He was a master carpenter, cabinet maker and craftsman, and is known nationwide for his unique interiors & furniture.

​

4.23.22 Trees of Historic Burlington

We will began the walking tour with a presentation at the Burlington Arboretum, 408 E Willowbrook, Burlington, and continued down West Davis Street. Certified Arborist Jorge Grafton Obando with Incana Arborist, LLC guided tour goers as they learned about trees that are common to historic neighborhoods. This was a free event and was open to the public

Old Red House Open House and Tour

Location: 511 West Davis Street, Burlington, NC

​

We hosted an exclusive member tour of "The Old Red House" located at 511 W Davis Street.  This was formerly the old Red Cross Building.  It has been completely renovated into 4 luxury apartments that will be rented in the coming weeks. This tour was a free event open to all Preservation Burlington members and a guest.

6th Annual Maker Faire Burlington 4.22.17

We are excited to have hosted a booth at the Burlington Maker Faire for Earth Day! Historic Preservation is the ultimate way to recycle. If a home cannot be saved intact, hopefully its elements and windows can be reused in a way that keeps them out of the landfill! Window Restoration Workshop, 2.18.17

We had our first workshop with many restoration enthusiasts in attendance! Our host, Tom Cowan, artfully demonstrated the ease of repairing your existing wood windows. From replacing wood to installing replacement glass panes and reglazing, this workshop equipped attendees with the knowledge needed to tackle their own restoration project!
